The Ultimate Xbox 360 Accessories!

By Larry Moon

The chances are, when you first went out and purchased your Xbox 360, you were absolutely thrilled that you could immediately begin gaming thanks to the fact that the package included everything, including your game controller and cables. If you are one of the lucky ones, and purchased the Xbox 360 Elite, then of course you would have received a few extras included as well. Because the Xbox 360 even comes with a few free games, there was nothing to stop you from getting started immediately, providing of course you had a TV, or even better still, an HDTV.

If you're serious about taking your gaming experience to the next level then you need to realize that a TV is not the only extra you will need. As you may well already know there are numerous accessories available for the Xbox 360. While some have been specifically designed to improve the gaming experience, others have been designed for improving and expanding the capabilities of the Xbox 360 in general. Of course, because some of these accessories are manufactured by third party companies, not all of them live up to the claims made by the manufacturers. If you're serious about your gaming, then you may want to try some of the accessories mentioned below.

As you will have noticed, the Xbox 360 only comes with one controller, irrespective of what edition you bought. Obviously if you only have one system and you want to play competitive games with additional players, you'll need to buy more controllers. However, whether you opt for wired or wireless controllers, the Xbox 360 is only capable of handling four controllers.

The best controllers to get are original controllers that come in black or white. These controllers are made with quality in mind and are also compatible with Microsoft Windows computers as well. It is best to stick with the original controllers as the 3rd party ones tend to have shorter life spans.

While the controller can fully operate the interface of the Xbox 360, you can make things a bit easier if you get the universal media remote. This is a great accessory to get if you frequently use the Xbox 360 as a digital media system. In addition, the remote can operate several TVs and computers that are powered by Windows Media Center. It even has the standard gaming buttons so you can actually play games with it.

Because so many people use their Xbox 360 for playing online and a large percentage of these people enjoy chatting, Microsoft released the Xbox 360 Messenger kit alongside Windows Live Messenger. A feature known as "Chatpad" is included in the kit and its ideal for quick messaging and also for those who lack a USB keyboard.

It also comes with a wired headset that conveniently connects to the Chatpad so that you can voice chat with others during gameplay or take advantage of games that have voice recognition support. There is also a wireless headset too if you do not need the Chatbox.

There are other nice accessories that you can find on the Xbox website as well. When choosing accessories, it is always best to get the ones that are officially licensed by Microsoft.
