By Dorothy Burke

A laptop is that particular type of computer that you can literally carry with you and work with it anywhere you go. Through time, computer manufacturers have continuously come up with different types of these computers with various added features. The newest types of laptops to hit the stage are the netbook computers, which have proven to draw a lot of attention in the industry. Netbook computers are considered to be the perfect gadget for those who run on a tight budget. In comparison with the traditional laptops, netbook computers have very reasonable prices that usually start at $230. Compared to notebooks, netbook computers are even smaller.

The typical screen size of netbook computers is about 9 to 10 inches and are lightweight weighing only 2 to 3 pounds. The size of the keyboard of these computers is generally 5% to 20% smaller than that of a regular laptop. But the common downside with netbook computers is that they can't be reliable for some tough jobs as they usually have less power and can operate only on previous versions of operating systems.

One popular line of these mini computers is the Dell Mini Netbook. Some of the Mini Netbook models available are the Mini 9, Mini 10v, and the Mini 10. Dell's Mini 9 has an 8.9" display monitor and with a weight starting at just 2.28 pounds. This type of netbook runs on either Ubuntu Linux Operating System or Windows XP and offers the feature of a wireless connection.

The Dell Mini 9 also comes with an optional external optical drive for you to be able to watch your favorite movie anytime, anywhere. This lightweight netbook which is only 1.07" thin serves as the perfect computer for those who always find themselves on the go and has a starting price of only $239.

Another netbook computer from Dell is the Mini 10v that has a weight of about 2.5 pounds and a 10.1" display monitor. Though small, this amazing netbook computer is sure to spice up things through all of the cool and interesting features it comes with. You can stay connected on the internet through its convenient wireless option. Things even get better with its built-in GPS that points your exact location in no time wherever you are in the world. And with a price of $299, you simply just can't wait to get your hands with this one.

The main significance of netbook computers is for persons to have personal computers that are light, small, and inexpensive. There are other types of laptop computers that come with very high prices making it difficult for persons to purchase a mobile personal computer. But since netbook computers are designed to be low cost, certain ports and features are unavailable which can be usually found in traditional laptops. They also have less power than laptops making them inappropriate when it comes to editing videos and video presentations.

Generally, notebook computers only weigh 6 pounds or less which makes them very convenient to be carried in all sorts of places. Being extremely compact makes notebook computers fit in suitcases and other small carrying bags. One distinct characteristic of a notebook computer is its display screen. Flat-panel technologies are often used on many notebook computers allowing it to have a slim and compact display screen.

In the industry today, Dell has emerged to be one of the most promising names when it comes to manufacturing computers and software. Some of its sources of pride are the Inspiron Series, Studio and Studio XPS Series, Alienware, and Adamo. The Dell Inspiron Series is made available in a wide range of display screen sizes from 11 inches to 17 inches. The weight of these models varies from 3.05 pounds to 6.80 pounds. Through high definition widescreens and advanced features, Dell Inspiron Series models will surely make a difference. At less than $500, you simply can't go wrong in choosing these notebook computers.
